For 40 years Amylton de Almeida was one of the most prolific and influential Brazilian documentarians and film critics, as well as a LGBT and cultural activist. He died of emphysema in 1995, just before the beginning of the editing of his debut work as a fictional feature director, inspired by Douglas Sirk and Rainer W. Fassbinder films. A few days later, his family discovered five letters addressed to five friends; his secret files.
